A lot has been happening a couple of month. We have no car and this means I get to spend 4 days in  the library and this in turn means I get to get lots of me craft time and did lots more quilling, crocheting, knitting. I even volunteered in the Library to teach Quilling. My hubby has given an idea of joining Etsy and selling some of the things I make so as I get some hold on the time well spent or do a craft show.

So one of my quilled beauty is Bougainvillea. These flowers are found in dry regions and I have grown up seeing these flowers in different shades and hues. The actual flowerof the plant is small and generally white, but each cluster of three flowers is surrounded by three or six bracts with the bright colours associated with the plant, including pink, magenta, purple, red, orange, white, or yellow. It is also called "paper flower" because the bracts are thin and papery.

 

This design is also from the book "A Guide to Quilling Flowers by Helen Walter". After sometime I had a chance to take this book to quill flowers again. I loved the magenta of the flower. I would love to make more in orange or in other colours.

   Each flower is made of 3 pink diamonds. The 3 pink diamonds a glued together with points and sides touching so they form an upside down pyramid. Glue a white tight coil to the centre. Make as many flowers as needed
2. Glue the stems so as to make them fall as climbing shrubs.
3. Glue the leaves and the flowers.

The Pink and Yellow Beauty

Wishing you all a Happy and Prosperous New Year 2013.  I had not blogged for quite a while ,as I was busy learning a lot of new art:  like crocheting, knitting , sewing. I had also quilled some more flowers and also sewn some more finger puppets. I hope to blog all my art work this year and  try my hand in new things.

Pansies and Viola are beautiful flowers to quill. This design is also from the book "A Guide to Quilling Flowers by Helen Walter". After sometime I had a chance to take this book to quill flowers again. Viola can be all in one colour, either pink or yellow or a combination, as in this quilled beauty.

1. Glue the Pink Teardrop for each flower in the top and the yellow ones below the pink with their points all touching in the centre. Glue the white crescent and the yellow tight coil to the centre of the flower. Make 5 flowers.
2. Arrange flowers and glue them in desired position.
3. Add Stem
4. Glue in the Leaves.

With a frame painted by my daughter the piece is complete

My next flower is Wild Tomato with is blue flowers and green leaves will perfectly compliment my Red Flower.This design is also from the book "A Guide to Quilling Flowers by Helen Walter". This is a book I would love to own and would reccomend for anybody who wants to start to Quill, especially flowers.

1. Each Flower is made of Five Yellow Tight Coil in the Centre, surrounded by five Blue Eyes. 
2. Arrange flowers and glue them in desired position.
3. Add Stem.
4. Glue in the leaves.

My Trip to Chennai during summer made me visit the local craft store and they had a lot of Quilling paper on display and suddely I took a keen interest in Quilling as it required patience and the end result was delicate and beautiful. I made a few simple earrings with it. When I came to Camp Hill, PA I stumbled upon a array of books in the local "Fredrickson Library, Camp Hill,PA" . My Interest was kindles and thought why not make a wall art of quilled flowers.

This design is from the book "A Guide to Quilling Flowers by Helen Walter". This book has some wonderful designs which can be worked in an afternoon when the kids are sleeping and make a beautiful wall art/card. This flower is Hairy Leschenaultia  an Australian Native Flower and blooms in a myriad of colours from the palest to the deepest of blues, creamy whites, vivis scarlet, bright cromson, soft pinks, sunny yellows and blazing orange. Some are bicoloured. I choose this as it would accentuate the white walls with reds.

1. Each Flower is made of Four Red Arrows, arranged with points touching in the centre. One arrow is upright and the remaining fan out beloe. The Bent Pink Teaddrop is glued on to the Centre. It can alos be glued such that the bent end to the centre of the flower and the fat end just juts out.
2. Arrange flowers and glue them in desired position.
3. Add Stem.
4. Glue in the leaves.
